OVO Update Meetings 2025: Strategic exercise

  • 22/04/2025: OVO Update meeting - Check out the presentation and the  full report of our survey in Uganda, Benin, Rwanda, Senegal, and the DRC. They reveal the challenges entrepreneurs face — especially access to finance — and the opportunities to strengthen our support through more flexible funding, strong partnerships, and targeted business development.

Phase Oct - Jan 2024: 3 priority strategic projects defined:

  1. Redesigning partnerships with Belgian NGOs 
    • Lead: Björn Macauter & Marc Despiegelaere
  2. Exploring models for access to finance for African entrepreneurs
    • Lead: Björn Macauter, Matyas Boyen & Jean Claude Delcroix
    • 16/10/2024: Launch Project II - presentation including
      • Our track record in financing African SMEs.
      • Projects outside our regular operations where OVO has collaborated as either a lead or partner, with insights on 'access to finance' that can inform our future efforts

3. Improving HR governance

  • Lead: Karen Peersman, Anne-Lise Passelecq & Rita Bastiaenssen
  • Organisatie van 5 interactieve workshops (november 2024) voor input over volgende HR governance topics:
    1. Efficient meetings and information/decision-making flow: team leader Stefanie Vanlerberghe
    2. Conflicts of interest: team Leader Luc Bonte
    3. Expertise and volunteer management: team leader: Karen Kammeraat
    4. Diversity: team leader Veron Nsunda
    5. Volunteer satisfaction & involvement, communication with volunteers: team leader Marina Cools
  • Online Q&A to present findings from these working groups to all volunteers
  • Survey to all volunteers on key topics
  • A policy plan was drafted a presented to the Board on 20/1 and approved
